You may be eligible for airline downgrade compensation, but please note that these rules only apply to American Airlines flights departing from Europe, as American Airlines is a non-EU airline.

1. American Airlines Flight Downgrade Compensation
In Europe, air passenger rights are strictly regulated.

What about American Airlines flight downgrade compensation?
If your flight class is downgraded, you can claim flight downgrade compensation. With an involuntary downgrade, the refund from your airline can be anywhere from 30 to 75% of the ticket price, depending on your flight’s distance. This doesn’t affect your American Airlines baggage allowance, after all, you’re not to blame.
This rule applies to American Airlines flights from Europe.
Since American Airlines is a non-EU airline, these rules are only applicable to flights departing from Europe.

2. How to Claim American Airlines Flight Downgrade Compensation?
Compensation for instances of flight downgrade should be made immediately.
Ideally, no further action should be required on your part.
However, if this is not the case, it is important to contact American Airlines and file a claim. Failing to do so might mean missing out on your compensation. The money owed to you for flight downgrade should be transferred directly to your bank account.
There is no requirement to accept any coupons or American Airlines vouchers.

3. How Much Can You Claim for a Flight Downgrade?
How much is American Airlines flight downgrade compensation?
The exact amounts for compensation are determined by the EU. The following is a guide for calculating your American Airlines compensation:
- 30%, if the distance of your flight is up to 1500 kilometres,
- 50%, if the distance of your flight is between 1500 – 3500 kilometres,
- 75%, if the distance of your flight is more than 3500 kilometers.
These percentages pertain to the amount you paid for your flight.
4. What About Complimentary Upgrades?
If there are no more available seats in economy class, and you are offered a seat in business class, the airline cannot require you to pay any additional fees for this involuntary American Airlines upgrade.
EU and Non-EU Airlines
You’re flying with American Airlines, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, or another non-EU airline.
In these scenarios, the aforementioned rules are only relevant for flights that are taking off from Europe.
If you’re on a commercial flight with a European airline, these regulations apply to all flights, regardless of whether they’re flying to or from Europe. However, for non-European airlines like Turkish Airlines or American Airlines, the regulations only apply to flights originating in Europe.
In other situations, please consult the local laws of the departure country and the specific downgrade policies of the airline.
First Class vs. Business Class
First-class and Business-class journeys on any airline have their unique features.
These classes offer a higher level of service compared to the Economy class, though they vary in cost and amenities provided.
First Class
First Class is commonly considered as the epitome of comfort offered by an airline.
The facilities usually include a seat that can recline to a flat position, delicious food, a wide range of drinks, and excellent customer support. You’ll also get access to exclusive airport lounges and priority boarding. Some airlines even offer private suites for first-class passengers, emphasizing the privacy and luxury they provide.
Business Class
